New MilkandCookies.com on the Rise

After over six years of working off the same code base, we are happy to announce to the imminent release of a complete rewrite of MilkandCookies.com. We have been working on it in relative secret since late November 2006. And unlike previous statements about possible rewrites happening “someday” we have a hard release date: June 9th, 2007.
To wet your appetite, here are some of the features:
- Voting:
- Vote using an animated star system that does not require a pop-up or a page refresh (ala: AJAX).
- Personal Link Collections:
- Bookmark your favorite links.
- Friends:
- Add other users to your personal Friends list.
- Submitting Links:
- Just enter a URL, we validate it before you ever need to enter the title, description, etc.
- Commenting:
- Voting on individual comments and hide comments below your threshold.
- Privacy:
- Only people in your Friends list can message you. Toggle on/off.
- Profiles:
- Expanded to allow you to list and share an much or as little information as you want.
- Personal Avatars:
- Get the camera out and upload your own picture.
- No New Windows:
- Links no longer open in new windows, even to external sites.
- Look and Feel:
- New two column CCS based layouts, similar to the satellite sites: DevilDucky, PistolWimp and SugarJar.
- All in One:
- Merging satellite sites back into MilkandCookies proper allowing you to comment and vote directly on video pages.
There are, of course, many other more subtle features and fixes—too many to mention here.

The vast bulk of this looks very appealing.
However, the NO NEW WINDOWS kind of makes me miss them already. Seriously, I could listen to a clip when not much was going on while playing a game in another recent submission. Simple resize of windows and watch one with peripheral vision. If the action got hot in the clip, pause the game and rewind the vid a bit.
I dunno. Personal preference.

Modern browsers have options to open into new windows with a key/click combination. Thus, you can have it both ways. ;)

holy shit wow. I remember years ago telling jaxon this was my most favorite site ever, and all these years later, after parking my dumptruck all over the tubes, it's still true.. wtg coders!

I'm getting very confused, here...I come in, and i get the new Beta. Then I read the news, blah blah blah, get myself completely ready and oriented to the new site...and....I get the old one. But, with a lovely note from jaxon. And now, a note saying that it ran from midnight to one, but here in CST, it was 3am when I got the Beta.
Don't you lead me on like that! Don't you dare taunt me with your talk of changing yourself for the better and just reverting back to your old self. We can make this work, you and me. We made really good progress. I just don't want to do it alone. That's why i need you in my life. I didn't want to say it, but it's not me this time, it's you. This relationship we have is precious. Don't let me down.
Basically, loved the new layout. It's a nice breakaway from what i've come to love over the past 3 years. Very, very, very well done. We're going to need a bigger boat pie.

I love the layout, although I REALLY don't like the theme. Can I just have a "simple" theme that gets rid of these monkeys? They make me so ANGRY!

the only thing I miss is the topics/keywords sections...it made it so much easier to browse around. D:

Same here. Has anyone found a topics section of some kind burried on here? I'll never make it through my work day without a 'Games: Puzzle' listing to kill some time. Hopefully they will re-add a topics and keywords section at a later date.

The image on the left of each link should give you an idea of its most specific catagory. Maybe we should include the catagory title somehow?
